Family Legacy Roadmap · Blues Hwy Benefits
Give Your Family a Plan, Not a Pile of Unanswered Questions.
The Family Legacy Roadmap brings your wishes, important information and legal documents together, and reviews the life insurance that could help support the people you love. Attorney involvement is available when you want it.
The result is peace of mind: your wishes are clear, and your family won't have to figure everything out alone.

If Something Happened Tomorrow, Could Your Family Find Everything?
Most families find out the hard way. Someone is grieving, the phone keeps ringing, and they're going through drawers, file boxes and an old laptop trying to answer questions like these:
- Where is the life insurance policy, and who is the beneficiary?
- Which banks? Is there a safe deposit box? Where's the key?
- Is there a will? Where is it? Is it still current?
- Burial or cremation? Was anything already paid for?
- Who do we call first: the insurance company, the pension, Social Security, the bank?
- What's the passcode to the phone?
None of these are hard questions for you. They can be very hard for the people you leave behind.
And a will alone doesn't answer them. The rest of the map is still in your head.
What's in your Family Legacy Roadmap
Three Parts That Come Together as One Family Plan
Most people try to "get their affairs in order" one piece at a time, and stall. The Family Legacy Roadmap puts the pieces in order and walks you through each one.
1. Get Organized: One Place for Everything That Matters
A home organizer with a labeled section for each part of your life: insurance, bank and retirement accounts, property and vehicles, medical wishes, final wishes, digital accounts, and the people to call.
Each section tells you what to put in it, and tells your family what to do with it.
Your family opens one organizer, not every drawer in the house.

- WillWritten in 1998. Doesn't reflect the grandchildren

2. Your Legal Documents, Prepared
Your will or living trust is prepared through an established estate-planning service as part of your plan. Want an attorney involved? That's available too. You won't be left alone with a stack of forms.
Not sure whether a will or a trust fits your family? We'll go over the questions to ask before you choose.
What you'll have when it's done
Your documents prepared and filed in your organizer where your family can find them, with a note saying who to call.
3. Your Beneficiary & Life Insurance Review
Beneficiary forms on life insurance and retirement accounts generally decide who gets that money, rather than your will, subject to the law and each plan's rules. A form filled out 20 years ago can still name an ex-spouse, or a parent who has passed.
I review what you have: who's named, what it pays and whether it's still in force. If there's a gap your family would feel, such as final expenses, a mortgage or a spouse's lost income, I'll show you the options.
Life insurance is a separate decision, subject to health questions and approval. You never have to buy a policy to get organized.
PLUS: Your Family Handoff Meeting
When you are ready, we can sit down with the people you choose, such as a spouse, a son or daughter, or whoever will handle things, so they know where everything is and who to call.
Who it's for
The Family Legacy Roadmap Helps If Any of These Sound Like You
- You've been meaning to "get your affairs in order" for a while, and it keeps getting pushed back.
- You have a will, but it's old, or you're not sure where it is.
- You don't have a will or a trust at all.
- You're the one who handles the bills, and your spouse wouldn't know where to start.
- You settled a parent's estate and don't want your children to go through the same thing.
- You've remarried, or you have someone special to provide for, and you want to make sure it's written down the right way.
You don't need to be wealthy. Most of what your family will need isn't about money. It's knowing where things are, who to call and what you wanted.

Questions? Here Are the Answers
Is This the Same as Writing a Will?
No. A will is one piece. The Family Legacy Roadmap includes your legal documents, prepared through an outside estate-planning service, and also organizes everything else your family will need, such as accounts, policies, wishes and the people to call, and reviews your beneficiaries.
Are You a Lawyer?
No. Blues Hwy Benefits is an insurance agency, not a law firm, and I don't give legal advice. Legal documents are prepared through an outside estate-planning service, and you can have an attorney involved if you choose.
Do I Need a Living Trust, or Is a Will Enough?
It depends on your family, your property and how it's titled. Some families use a living trust so certain assets can pass without probate. For others, a will is enough. We'll go over the questions, and the estate-planning service and its attorneys can help you decide.
I Don't Have Much Money. Do I Still Need This?
Yes. Most of what your family will need isn't about money. It's knowing where the papers are, who to call and what you wanted. That matters for every family.
Is Life Insurance Part of This?
The Roadmap includes a review of your beneficiaries and the life insurance you have. Buying a policy is a separate decision, and any coverage is subject to health questions and the insurance company's approval.
What About My Passwords and Online Accounts?
Your organizer has a section for digital accounts. You decide what to write down and where to keep it. Please never email or text passwords to anyone, including me.
Can My Children Be Part of This?
Yes. Many people want a son or daughter involved. You choose who's included and when.
Blues Hwy Benefits is an independent insurance agency, The MPE Group LLC. It is not a law firm and does not provide legal, tax or investment advice. Legal documents are prepared through a third-party estate-planning service; attorney involvement is optional and available through that service. Whether a trust helps avoid probate depends on how assets are titled and on state law. Life insurance is subject to underwriting and carrier approval, and product availability varies. The checklist shown is an illustration, not a client record.
