Protection for a set period
Term Life coverage, explained plainly.
Term Life insurance provides coverage for a chosen period. People often consider it when a household depends on income or has responsibilities that may shrink over time.

Match the amount and length to the responsibility
The useful questions are what financial responsibility needs protection, how much support the household would need, and how long that responsibility is expected to last.
A term may be considered for income replacement, a mortgage, children or other dependents, business obligations, or another need with a defined time horizon.
- Income the household depends on
- Mortgage or other time-limited debt
- Years until children or dependents are independent
- Existing savings, employer benefits, and life coverage
A planning discussion is not a quote
Available amounts, term lengths, premiums, eligibility, and underwriting vary by insurance company and product. Reading this page does not determine eligibility or guarantee that coverage will be issued.

Frequently asked questions
Select a question to see the answer.
What happens when a term ends?
Coverage generally ends at the close of the selected term unless the policy provides and the owner uses another option, such as renewal or conversion. Those options, deadlines, and costs depend on the policy.
Does this page show a quote or recommend an amount?
No. It provides general education only. A coverage amount, premium, eligibility decision, and approval require current insurer information and, when applicable, underwriting.
